Triangle Strategy Preview: Final Fantasy Tactics Meets Game of Thrones

The gameplay of Triangle Strategy is made up of three primary phases: narrative, exploration, and combat. The exploration mechanic opens specific locations up for players to wander as Lord Serenoa. During this time, players will look for items scattered around the maps, communicate with NPCs and main characters, and discover information that is important to the narrative. Finding the information in the form of notes of hearsay from NPCs is a crucial task during this phase of gameplay, as it often gives players sway in decision-making later in the story. These discoveries can even allow players to persuade characters to their cause during voting sessions, which are used to determine the course of the overarching st

The land consists of three kingdoms – Glenbrook, Aesfrost, and Hyzante – all of which are living in a state of peace despite an ongoing struggle over the resources of salt and iron. The land is a powder keg waiting to explode, and a joint mining venture between neighbouring city states is the match that nefarious forces have been waiting for. Protagonist Seronoa Wolffort hails from Glenbrook, belonging to a major house that has forever been loyal to the throne. With his father growing ill, he’s entrusted with the house chair just as his betrothed, Frederica Aesfrost, arrives from the neighbouring kingdom to prepare for the wedding.

Triangle Strategy made me feel like an awful person. Many games make a huge deal about the impact your decisions will have on characters and the unfolding narrative, but here the input actually feels substantial. People died due to my actions, while allegiances across a global conflict shifted and changed depending on what I believed was right. It gives this gorgeous pixel-art TRPG a level of dramatic investment I never could have expected, and for that it shines. The name is still very silly though.

Despite many games advertising decision-making as a selling point for their experiences, it’s rarely executed well. Too often gamers are given the illusion of choice, rather than the ability to make an actual impact on the game’s narrative. Simply put, choices in video games are best when they matter and lead to vastly different experiences, much how they would in real l

For those of us lucky enough to live in the real world, they say variety is the spice of life. In medieval societies such as Triangle Strategy ‘s, it’s enough to hope there’s salt on the table. The first half of the game’s ninth chapter culminates in a decision to either work alongside a corrupted salt lord or abide by a forced promise to do otherw

**Triangle Strategy ** is a strategy-based roleplaying Slg Game Collectibles with hybrid 2D and 3D graphics developed by Square Enix for the Nintendo Switch. Triangle Strategy ‘s progression is narrative-driven, immersing players in a complex fantasy world rife with troubled nations, political intrigue, and hidden secrets. While gameplay mirrors certain elements seen in Octopath Traveler , the story and mechanics of Triangle Strategy have unique twists that allow the game to stand up well as its own title. Despite this, lengthy dialogue scenes and slow narrative progression may be a frustrating hurdle for those used to more fast-paced Square Enix titl

After being somewhat underwhelmed by the sheer level of content and broader focus of Octopath Traveller, Triangle Strategy feels like a more mature, nuanced tale that encapsulates classical fantasy tropes with a level of melodrama that feels equal parts Final Fantasy and Game of Thrones. While the continent of Norzelia is rife with magical spells and mythical creatures, the people who call it home are subject to societal struggles that are far too real. Games in this genre often feel outlandish, so this is no small achievement.

Don’t worry if you lack the information. The second of the two unlocked options works nearly as well. If, for whatever reason, you run into any issues, speak with Roland , who is quite softly in favor of working with Sors

In order to compel Anna to see your side of things, you will need ‘The Saintly Seven’ information. This can be found outside by speaking with the soldier right near the entrance if you don’t already possess it from a previous chap

While those who like story-based games or visual novel-style gameplay may enjoy the events offered in Triangle Strategy, those interested in fast combat, exploration, and classic RPG mechanics may become frustrated with the amount of dialogue that is required to move forward. Additionally, areas outside the main storyline aren’t available until several chapters into the game, requiring players to grind through the narrative portions with minimal bre

Triangle Strategy is an excellent game that expertly combines satisfying combat and a layered narrative to create something I didn’t know I needed. Serenoa Wollfort’s journey is punctuated with intrigue, betrayal, and triumph that are all driven by player decisions that actually feel like they matter. It isn’t smoke and mirrors on a moral railroad presenting the illusion of choice, it’s a ride or die political rollercoaster where failing to convince a single ally will result in the untimely deaths of thousands.
